This is the sixth year of the Murray Police and Fire Health and Safety Fair. This is a huge event put on by Murray City to get Health and Safety information out to the public. Forty venders will be out at the location which will be held at Murray High School, 5440 South State Street.
We will begin the morning with a USA Track and Field certified 5K race. The race begins and ends at Murray High School. Registration can be done online through the Murray City website www.murray.utah.gov or on site registration beginning at 8:30 A.M. Awards will be given to runners in several categories. There is no fee for the race. Following the race, a fundraising breakfast, sponsored by the Exchange Clubs of Murray and the Murray Police Department, will raise money for the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Fund. The Fund provides immediate financial assistance to crime victims or individuals suffering from a traumatic event.
We will kick off the main event at 10 A.M. with fireworks and the National Anthem, which will happen along side the healing field of flags, representing Police Officers killed in the line of duty. From 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. activities will include a fire demonstration where the Fire Department will burn down a building showing how fast a building will burn without a sprinkler system, a K9 demonstration and SWAT demonstration by the Police Department. Murray Power will have a High voltage display demonstrating the power of electricity by blowing up hotdogs and fruit using electricity. Other activities and participants include; a car seat checkpoint, CHIP, Care-a-Van Immunizations, Boys and Girls Club, IHC health and information, Huntsman Cancer, National Guard and their rock climbing wall, bounce toys, free finger print kits, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Planned Parenthood, as well as many others. There will be food and many activities for all ages. Information can be found on the Murray City website www.murray.utah.gov , or contact the Murray Police Department at 264-2673.
