Non-Profit Spotlight: AAA Fair Credit Foundation

December is known as the traditional season of giving.  This month Utah Pulse is featuring some of the non-profit organizations working in Utah.  Today we highlight the AAA Fair Credit Foundation.

Financial insecurity is at the core of many of our society's social ills. Currently there are many threats to the global financial markets and security of American households. Record levels of consumer debt, turbulent real estate market, low personal savings rate, unemployment on the rise and slow economic growth. Combine these and you have a recipe for financial instability as more and more consumers find themselves overextended.

AAA Fair Credit Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides confidential budget counseling, personal financial management training, debt management relief programs, bankruptcy counseling and education, foreclosure counseling, and coordinates the statewide Utah Individual Development Account Network (UIDAN), which aims to breaks the cycle of poverty by matching the savings of low-wage workers by helping them invest in assets like homes, small businesses and education -- creating a cycle of prosperity across generations.

Today's financial services industry is extremely diverse and complex. The application of new technologies, data security, and financial innovations has contributed to a highly competitive marketplace. Financial literacy education is critical to helping consumers make well-informed and beneficial decisions that enhance their financial positions and enhance efficiencies in the consumer financial marketplace. Our goal is to expand resources by helping people acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to take control of their finances. We strive daily to help consumers strengthen themselves with the necessary knowledge to understand the fundamental rules of financial responsibility.
AAA Fair Credit Foundation has reached many significant milestones - obtaining and maintaining ISO 9001:2000 certification, Utah Best of State Winner (2004), United Way of Salt Lake President's Award (2006), and recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility (2008). These recognition awards demonstrate our ongoing commitment to solve community problems.

Promoting responsible fiscal attitudes and behaviors creates financially healthy households.  Financially stable individuals and families contribute to the overall financial strength of a community, rather than drain its resources.  AAA Fair Credit Foundation is a founding partner of Utah Saves, a public awareness initiative that brings the community together to help all Utahns build wealth, reduce debt, and create long-term financial security.
