Ahlstrom will discuss the reasons most new businesses fail and how successful entrepreneurs develop a habit of winningthrough the Nail It Then Scale It (NISI) startup approach. Participants will learn how to identify markets and business channels, and will gain insights as to how to effectively scale production and sales that lead to business success.

An overview of the five phases of the NISI approach will be included in the session:
- Nail the Pain: Great businesses solve problems for their customers. This session teaches how to avoid three big mistakes common in providing services.
- Nail the Solution: businesses succeed that starting with a narrow, focused set of features and technology to deliver to customers. Success demands testing the solution early and quickly.
- Nail the go-to-market strategy: Entrepreneurs need an in-depth understanding of the target customer’s buying process, the job they are trying to get done, the market infrastructure, and a stable of serious pilot customers.
- Nail the business model: Listen to what customers say. Use their conversations to predict and validate a business model.
- Scale it: Only when a proven, repeatable business model has been found can it be scaled.
