On April 20th, a panel discussion on "Renewable Energy Opportunities in Utah" will cap a day of events and displays by clean energy businesses, other organizations, and students at the Milford High School Renewable Energy Fair. The Governor's Energy Advisor, Dr. Dianne R. Nielson, will introduce the Governor and panel, which includes:
- Rob Adams, Beaver County Economic Development, Moderator;
- Jason Berry, Manager of the State Energy Program, who will discuss results of the Utah Renewable Energy Zone (UREZ) Phase I Task Force study;
- Kelly Knutsen from Utah Clean Energy, who will speak on the economics of clean energy in Utah
- Luigi Resta of Scatec Solar, who will overview the solar energy industry in Utah and nationwide.
During the day, the Governor will hold ceremonial bill signings for Senate Bills 188 and 76, and House Bill 430. House Bill 430 provides economic development incentives for alternative energy projects, and Senate Bill 76 creates the Utah Generated Renewable Energy Electricity Network Authority (UGREEN).
Other activities at the Milford Fair include a race between six electric cars built by local students as engineering team projects. There will also be industry, school and organizational displays including a USTAR "green science" table.
"The goal of this fair is to point out to our high school students and the state in general the opportunities that exist in the renewable energy sector," said Rob Adams. "The fair gives them an opportunity to participate in fun projects, interact with a wide range of people involved in renewable energy and contribute to efforts to promote southwest Utah as the renewable energy capitol of the state."

The UREZ Task Forces Phase I and II are made up of members, appointed by Gov. Huntsman, representing utilities; renewable energy generation developers; environmental organizations; federal, state and local government representatives; and energy advocate representatives. The purpose of the UREZ Task Force groups is to promote the development of renewable energy resources to meet the goal of 20 percent of Utah's electricity by 2025.
