The Women Tech Council will hold its monthly Tech Talk lunch event on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Deseret News offices. The topic for the presentation, “Delivering News in a High Tech Age,” sponsored by Deseret News Publishing Company, Deseret Digital Media, and Holland and Hart. Clark Gilbert, president and CEO of Deseret News Publishing Company and Deseret Digital Media will present the discussion.
The presentation will discuss moving news organizations into the digital age, surviving today's massive changes in gathering, distributing, and selling news, and new strategy of pooling news sources.
“As more and more of our news is delivered in digital formats, it is important that we are aware of the dynamics involved in the process,” said Cydni Tetro, Women Tech Council director. “We welcome the opportunity to learn from Mr. Gilbert’s expertise.”
Prior to his role as president and CEO of the Deseret News Publishing Company and Deseret Digital Media, Mr. Gilbert was an associate academic vice president at Brigham Young University–Idaho, where he oversaw the university’s online learning and distance education initiatives. He was also a professor of entrepreneurial management at the Harvard Business School and has a background in media innovation. He also authored the book "From Resource Allocation to Strategy," published by Oxford University Press.
