Utah.Gov and the Utah Connect Portal were selected as a winner of the Excellence.Gov Award for Excellence in Innovation: Social Media. The American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) recognizes outstanding government programs that use information technology in an innovative manner to improve the ability of government to service citizens more effectively.
The Utah Connect Portal, http://utah.gov/connect/, aggregates all federal, state, and local government social media feeds in the state of Utah to make it easier for citizens to discover new information and interact with state and local government agencies. The Connect Portal has social media content in Utah from Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, blogs, Slideshare, Flickr, and YouTube.
“Utah’s tech savvy citizens are using online social media daily to find information. It makes sense for Utah government to reach out through this medium,” said Steve Fletcher, Utah Chief Information Officer. “Aggregating all government information for Utah citizens is one way we continue to innovate as a state.”
Via the Connect Portal, citizens can connect to over 694 state Twitter feeds, find over 264 state Facebook pages, and 19 Google + accounts, and access over 16 state YouTube channels, totaling 294 videos. Regardless of device, all information is available for tablets, smart-phones, and desktops, without a decrease in information or presentation.
